Self Employed

Those with suitable experience in cultural activities, athletics, or farm management are eligible for the Canadian Self-Employed Persons Program. Applicants must also have the desire and aptitude to start a business that would, at the very least, provide them with employment.

Applicants must also contribute significantly to cultural or sports activities, or own and manage a farm in Canada.

Employment, funds, and points are all required for eligibility.

Applicants must meet a number of requirements to be eligible for this visa, including:
  • Demonstrate at least two years of self-employment in cultural activities or athletics, with world-class participation in cultural activities or athletics, or farm management experience.
  • Possess adequate funds to support themselves and their family upon arrival Possess the desire and capacity to start a business that will provide self-employment
  • Make a substantial contribution to Canada’s cultural or athletic life, or buy and operate a farm in the country.
  • To pass, you must earn enough points in the selection factors. Points are awarded for the following elements in the selection process: education
  • competency in the official languages of Canada (English and French)
  • age
  • work experience
  • adaptability variables based on job experience (such as ability to retrai
