Immigration Programs

The Canadian immigration program will be based on your qualifications, objectives, and unique circumstances. The federal and provincial governments of Canada are constantly upgrading their programs to ensure that immigration to Canada benefits both immigrants and the country. Because there are presently over 60 immigration programs accessible to Canadians, each person’s road to citizenship will be different. The Federal and Quebec Skilled Worker programs, the Provincial Nominee Programs, the Canadian Experience Class, the Quebec Experience Class, and the Federal Self-employed program are among the various categories for professionals and workers. Canada also has a number of Family Class Sponsorship schemes through which Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor family members and loved ones to immigrate to the country.

Work permit vs. resident

A Work Permit allows an individual to reside and work in Canada for a limited period of time but sometimes there are restrictions placed on the type of employment and areas of employment which can be pursued. It will not by itself lead to Canadian Permanent Residency but can be a stepping stone to achieving this status. By contrast a Canadian Immigration Visa entitles its holder to live and work anywhere in Canada, enjoy many of the privileges of Canadian Citizenship, apply for Canadian Citizenship after 3 years and sponsor family members for Canadian Permanent Resident status.
